KTS underwent this process in 2016. When Chicago chose to open private schools, Almost Done faced terrible gentrification. A lot of land was purchased throughout the region, and many homes and apartment buildings received expensive improvements to improve value. Many families and people in the neighborhood and/or community could not make their rent payments.

Numerous inhabitants left their houses as a consequence of gentrification, clearly distinguishing the gang and drastically decreasing its size. The individuals who did stay had tremendous hardships, which prompted many people to scrape together cash and take on additional occupations to survive. Crime rates rose along with the rate of gentrification in the area.

In the wake of the rapid gentrification that swept through in 2016, KTS faced unprecedented challenges. The neighborhood, once a stronghold for the gang, was undergoing a transformation that would alter the fabric of the community forever. As private schools opened their doors in the area it only got worse and worse, a wave of investors and affluent families descended on the area, looking to take advantage of the changing landscape.

The land was bought up at a breakneck pace, and many older homes and apartment buildings received extensive renovations, transforming them into luxury residences that were far beyond the means of the long-standing residents. Families who had homes for generations found themselves struggling to make rent payments as prices skyrocketed. The neighborhood's unique character was rapidly eroding, and its population dwindled as people were forced to abandon their homes due to gentrification's relentless march.

For
KTS this was a time of both adversity and adaptation. Their numbers dwindled along with the neighborhood's population, but those who remained were determined to hold on to their territory and way of life. The individuals who stayed faced tremendous hardships, battling not only rival gangs but also the economic challenges that gentrification had brought to their doorstep. To survive in this changing landscape, many gang members were forced to get creative.

They scraped together cash through various means, including underground economies and illicit activities, and took on additional occupations to make ends meet. Some even found legitimate work to support themselves and their families, all while maintaining their connections within the gang. Crime rates did indeed rise in tandem with the rapid gentrification of the area. The gang, now smaller but more determined, struggled to assert its presence amidst the shifting demographics and the challenges posed by law enforcement's increased focus on the neighborhood.

Take Sum Gang is a subset within KTS they are a small but close-knit group that always sticks together and in units, it's usually difficult to catch anyone out of this group on their own. They're active in both the 75th and 69th districts, with most of its soldiers between the ages of 14 and 21. Of course, the training begins much earlier, and it's a full cycle, as some may question how children as young as 12, 13, and even 11 get their hands on different types of weapons. Given the near closeness of KTS and its other subsets of the gang, it's only natural that these two subsets are incredibly tight-knit and close to one another, and you'll frequently meet numerous members from both. Most affiliates who are in the subset are younger males and tend to be very reckless and not caring due to their young age. The members of this subset are trying to find their guidance and will do anything it takes to make money. Members of the subset are mostly young teenagers who are extremely reckless and will go to any length to impress others and demonstrate the gang lifestyle.

These members will do whatever it takes to make money around the hood and also will do whatever they have to do to prove themselves around the hood. They are money-hungry and love to make money by any means no matter what they have to do. They have participated in activities such as attempted murders, shootings, street robberies, possession of narcotics for sale, possession of firearms, and burglaries. They are very careful of who they trust and who they tend to do business with and are gang before anything. Members of this subset are hard-headed and hot-headed and don't listen at all as they have no guidance their OG's are facing serious time with numerous crimes such as robberies, shootings, drug charges, money laundering, and many more crimes that have taken places over the last couple of years and still going on. This is why you can hear them saying they have Take Sum and things of that nature. Many members from this clique go to members from other cliques within the hood for guidance, protection, drugs, and many more things that they don't have access to.

Baby Spillers is another clique within KTS they are known for having reckless and dangerous younger members that commit crimes in their environment. BabySpillers affiliates would do anything to have a name and earn respect from their community by doing criminal activities such as home invasions, murders, Robbing, and scamming they would be seen on social media platforms flashing weapons and taunting their rivals the members of other sets would drive to their opps hoods dissing them whenever they could and had the chance to do so. Baby Spillers would reach the top of CPD's most dangerous subset within KTS by selling drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, meth, percocets, and other types of different drugs. Baby Spillers would eventually lose members from the clique and retaliate quickly on their enemies that consist of certain gangs in the area.

BabySpillers members would tend to make money to move out of their dangerous current living situations and attempt to live a better life with them and their families. They are known to be very aggressive towards outsiders and don't trust many people at all. They are very careful of who they trust and who they tend to do business with and are gang before anything. Members of this subset are hard-headed and hot-headed and don't listen at all as they have no guidance as their OG's are facing serious time with numerous crimes such as robberies, shootings, drug charges, money laundering, and many more crimes that have taken places over the last couple of years and still going on. These are mostly young money-hungry kids ranging from 14-19 willing to do anything for paper whether it’s robbing scamming or selling drugs or even fake shoes, or even fake jewelry; they are always looking to hustle and be on money moves whenever they can.

Careless Actions, Everything Is A Price
At about 4 a.m. on August 4th, 2019, Elijah Perez, Kyzir Perez, and Lucas Rivera (the victims) were standing outside an apartment building in a rival gang's neighborhood. A vehicle stopped in the middle of the street in front of the building. Three men got out of the vehicle. They had "hoodies over their heads." One of the men said, "Who this is Foenem?." Perez replied, "I ain't from up over here," The three men pointed guns at the victims and started shooting "One of the men said, "Stop lying nigga." Kyzir died from multiple gunshot wounds. Elijah, his brother was shot twice in the right leg and survived. Lucas miraculously was not shot. He testified at trial but did not identify the appellant. After the shooting, the three men entered their vehicle and drove away. In the street at the crime scene, the police found a cell phone that belonged to the Appellant. Lucas described the vehicle used in the shootings. He said it was a dark green Chevrolet Tahoe with 24-inch rims. Before the shooting appellant received traffic citations showing that he had been driving a 2002 green Chevrolet Tahoe.

The owner of the vehicle was Jessica Albuan, who appeared to be one of the people's mothers who was a part of the crime scene. The police obtained a photograph of the vehicle. It "shows the Chevy Tahoe, dark-colored, dark green with some large rims on the vehicle." The rims were either 20 or 24 inches in diameter.

After the male was arrested, the police placed an informant in his jail cell. A recorded conversation between the appellant and the informant was played for the jury. The informant was a former member of a hood that Kill To Survive had issues with. But he told the appellant that he was a gang member. The appellant declared that he was a member of KTS and that his moniker was "KuttThroat Kane." The appellant said that the police were investigating him for a murder.

Using street vernacular, there were statements that the informant interpreted as meaning that he and his fellow affiliate were a part of the gang by "shooting at people." "He had his own firearm and that his boy had a firearm as well. "Detective Amani Rivers, a gang expert, testified that at the time of the shooting, appellant was an active member of the KTS The prosecutor posed a hypothetical question to the defendant incorporating the facts of the shootings. She asked whether, based on these facts, the shootings were committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

Hartman replied that they were. The
KTS member named KuttThroat Kane later was sentenced to 105 years to life for the murder of Rivera. Kyzir Rivera was a 15-year-old kid who wasn't even from anywhere. It was said to be just the wrong place at the wrong time, members of the CPD said as the trio weren't even affiliated nor a part of the gang that the "attackers" were looking for at the time. The teens shouldn't of had even been around that area at that time as it was early in the morning and that the fact that they aren't even from that area.
